Job Title: Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Actual Annual Salary: £20,743 - £22,967.  Based on hours and weeks worked.

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £35,852 - £39,679 (CLF Grade E). Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.

Contract Type: Part Time - 25 hours per week, Permanent, Term Time only, plus insets

Start Date – December - pending completion of pre-employment checks

We are looking for a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our supportive and talented team at Winterstoke Hundred Academy. The CLF is a diverse multi-academy trust, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning.

You will report directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead and be responsible for providing support and intervention strategies to identified students, ensuring their academic progress and well-being are fully supported.

The ideal candidate will have existing experience as a DDSL or similar, and will have strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with external agencies.

About you:

You will have:

• Understanding of the range of issues that can affect young people, their families, and disadvantaged sections.

• Educated to AS/A level or equivalent qualifications/experience

• Proven experience working with young people and their families in education or a related area such as youth, community or health and social work.

• Experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships with parents and pupils.

• Full, clean driving licence with willingness to obtain business insurance or ability to travel to other sites or for home visits

About Winterstoke Hundred Academy:

Winterstoke Hundred Academy is named after the historic parish of Weston-super-Mare and launched as a new 11-19 Academy in September 2020, admitting pupils for the first time in that year into Year 7 and Year 12. The academy is growing year by year, and we have been very pleased that our incoming cohorts in Year 7 have been oversubscribed in consecutive years, while our post-16 applications also show significant growth. We recently opened a state-of-the-art, net-zero building at Locking Parklands for Years 7-11, with post-16 education continuing at the original Beaufighter Road site, just a five-minute drive away.

We celebrate the fact that, as a new provision, our culture, ethos and values have been ours to define from the beginning, and we are able to decide what is important to take with us into the future as we grow.

Safeguarding Statement:

The Cabot Learning Federation are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role has significant responsibility for ensuring safeguarding practice within the academy. This role involves working with children on a daily basis and is therefore in regulated activity.
